The Platinum trim comes standard with a 3.3-liter V-6 hybrid engine that offers 318 horsepower. The Limited trim can also be equipped with a hybrid engine.

Performance

Except for the Timberline, all vehicle trims for the 2023 Ford Explorer feature rear-wheel drive as the default option, while four-wheel drive is standard for the Timberline and optional for the other trims. The drive mode select feature offers customization options for the driving experience, including Normal, Sport, Eco, Trail, Slippery, Tow/Haul, and Snow/Sand modes catering to specific driving preferences or conditions.
